Morven read story on radio

Morven-Christie-wHELENSBURGH-born actress Morven Christie was the reader for episode 3 of the BBC Radio 4 programme Opening Lines on Thursday August 19 2010.

Opening Lines gives emerging short-story writers their radio debut, and Morven read the final story in this series, 'Kiss' by Heather Reid.

It is a quirky coming-of-age tale in which thoughts of that all important first kiss occupy the mind of a teenager as she travels home from school on the bus. A fellow passenger catches her eye but when the moment arrives it bears no resemblance to what she had imagined.

Heather Reid was born in Lancashire but has been a resident of Scotland for many years. Her writing, both poetry and short fiction, has been widely published — including on a toilet wall in Shetland as part of Jen Hadfield's Bards in the Bog project — and in 2009 she won the BBC Wildlife Magazine Poet of the Year. She currently lives in Perthshire and is writing her first novel. The producer was Gemma Jenkins.

The Morven Christie story can be found here in the The Arts section of this website.
