A SUPERB 30-minute BBC film of the West Highland Railway made in 1960 can be seen on youtube: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHhL3xBXJFg

Heritage Trust hon president Professor Malcolm Baird commented after watching the film: "Thanks to The Times online archive, I have discovered that the West Highland railway film was shown on BBC on Sunday July 17 1960 at 4.20 pm.

"At that time I was 25 years-old, taking a well-earned break at The Lodge in West Argyle Street, having recently completed my PhD thesis at Cambridge and waiting for the oral exam which was scheduled for early September. It was fascinating to see that film again after 54 years."

Final Open Meeting

John Hume-wThe final Open Meeting of the season will be on Wednesday March 29 at 7.30pm at the Civic Centre, East Clyde Street, Helensburgh. Professor John Hume willl speak on the history of some West Dunbartonshire churches.
