handHi there,

My name is Kieth T.Jones, I was born on June 5 1964, and I'm researching my family tree.

My grandfather was the station master for Stoke Golding, Leicestershire, and, when I was talking to a local resident called George, who is 82 years-old, he showed me a photo of the Stoke Golding football team that played Helensburgh twice to his knowledge in 1960.

My grandfather Wilfred Thomas Jones, actually arranged and journeyed with the team — although I did forget to ask George the score!) — he told me that Wilfred arranged the trains from Stoke Golding to Helensburgh.

George also mentioned that this was the return fixture around 14th April 1960, as Helenburgh had previously visited Stoke Golding. Wilfred passed away a few weeks later on June 7.

I was wondering if anyone remembers this game and has any other info, pictures etc. I would be very grateful.

Yours,

Kieth (Dylan) T.Jones
