Kenneth-Crawford-wHELENSBURGH Heritage Trust records with the deepest regret the sudden death in 2016 of Trust Newsletter editor and former director Kenneth N.Crawford, FInstLEx, MCIM.

A director for many years, he retired from the board in February but carried on editing the newsletter — a task he took over in 1998.

Alison Palmer, chairman of Argyll & Bute Museums & Heritage Forum, said: "Kenneth joined the Forum’s committee in 2012 and served in this role until last year’s AGM in October. He was a great advocate for the Forum and its attempts to serve the Museums and Heritage sector in Argyll & Bute.

"I particularly appreciated his balanced and humorous counsel in connection with Forum matters and he could always be relied upon to attend events. It was through his efforts that the Forum held their AGM at Helensburgh Heritage Centre in October 2013 allowing members from across Argyll the chance to see how Helensburgh Heritage Trust displayed their history to visitors. He will be sadly missed."

For some years he served on Helensburgh Community Council, and he was a leading member and past chairman of Helensburgh and District Camera Club.

Heritage Trust president Professor Malcolm Baird said: "Kenneth was a great asset of the Trust and a fine person. We extend our sympathy to his wife Jean and the family."

A Service of Celebration of Kenneth's life was held in Helensburgh Parish Church on Friday July 8.
